First Aid Courses

It is a legal requirement that employers provide First Aid courses to their workers in numbers in proportion to the number of employees and the degree of dangerous work involved.

The First Aid courses offered at the Buda Health Center will provide training in the following competencies:

  • sudden death,
  • provision of assistance,
  • theory and practice of basic resuscitation,
  • removal of aspirated foreign bodies.

We have probably all been in situations, following an accident or during an illness, when we were required to help but felt inadequate and uncertain of what to do, asking ourselves: What should I do in order to do good not damage? Fear and uncertainty often prevent us from helping, and yet, we all have the ability to learn this skill.

Our First Aid course offers helpful and practical advice on what to do in serious, life threatening situations, showing how to recognize serious conditions and the first steps to be taken. The basic resuscitation techniques are taught on special dolls. We cover the rules on dialing ambulance units, the use of semi-automatic defibrillators and what to do in cases of swallowing wrong. Sudden death survival is increased many fold with this knowledge and these techniques.

Goals:

  • to understand the causes and significance of sudden death,
  • to learn about the algorithm of first aid in the event of sudden death or other life-threatening situations,
  • to emphasize the importance of positive thinking while assisting,
  • to practice life-saving techniques.
